In 2021, the City of Winnipeg adopted its Poverty Reduction Strategy. Council will vote on a new Implementation Plan on November 14, 2023. We need your help to ensure the plan includes concrete action on housing, safety, transit, and anti-oppression.

Housing
Add 750 units of social housing annually over ten years and provide 7 full-time staff dedicated to their development.

Transit
Provide eligible Winnipeggers with 80% off the cost of a transit pass and pilot fare-free transit.

Anti-Oppression
Mandate and provide ongoing anti-racism and anti-oppression training to all City employees.

Safety
Redirect at least 10% of police funding to community organizations addressing the root causes of crime (eg 24-7 safe spaces, alternative community safety models).
